Essaouira is the opposite of Marrakech: wind, gulls, Portuguese ramparts and the Atlantic straight ahead. Two and a half hours west and the temperature drops several degrees.
A private departure with your own vehicle and driver-guide, with time to walk the medina at your own pace rather than on a schedule.
Pick-up at your riad or hotel in Marrakech. We bring you back to the same place in the evening.
Between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning, depending on the season.
About five hours of driving across the day, split in two. The rest of the time is yours in the town, which is small enough to cover comfortably on foot.
We leave Marrakech in the morning and cross the plain towards the coast. On the way we stop at a womens argan cooperative, where you can see the nuts being cracked and pressed by hand, and in the stretch where goats climb the argan trees.
We reach Essaouira before midday. The medina is a UNESCO site and small enough to walk end to end: the ramparts facing the ocean, the thuya woodworking shops, the spice souk and the Skala with its old cannons.
Lunch at the fishing harbour, where the blue boats land their catch and the grills are set up along the quay, or on a terrace inside the walls if you prefer.
Free time in the afternoon for the beach or the shops before we head back, reaching Marrakech in the early evening.
