Imlil is the village people set out from to climb Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167 metres. It sits at around 1,740 metres, an hour and a half from Marrakech.
A private departure for walking the paths between walnut trees and stone villages, with lunch on a terrace looking down the valley.
Pick-up at your riad or hotel in Marrakech. We bring you back to the same place in the evening.
Between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning, depending on the season.
Around three hours of driving in total. The walking is optional and can be as short or as long as you like, but the paths are steep in places and the altitude is noticeable.
We leave Marrakech and climb towards the Atlas through Asni, where there is a large Saturday market if the day works out. The road narrows and the valley closes in as we gain height.
We reach Imlil at around 1,740 metres and leave the car there. From the village, paths lead up through walnut groves and terraced fields to hamlets of stone and mud, with Toubkal at the head of the valley.
You can walk as much or as little as you want. A mule and a local guide can be arranged on the spot if you would like to go higher.
Lunch on a terrace with a view down the valley, then the drive back, reaching Marrakech in the evening.
