Sunset Camel Ride in Erg Chebbi

We set off an hour and a half before sundown from the edge of the erg, where the tarmac ends and the sand begins.

The caravan moves slowly into the dunes, away from the village, until the only things in sight are sand and sky. We stop at a high dune and climb the last stretch on foot.

From the top you watch the light drop and the colour change across the whole erg, which takes about twenty minutes and is the reason for the timing.

The ride back is made in the dark, with the first stars out. We have you back in the village in the evening.
