If you are already in Merzouga or arriving under your own steam, this is the desert experience on its own: into the dunes at sunset, dinner at the camp and sunrise over the erg the next morning.
Camps range from simple, with shared bathrooms, to luxury tents with private facilities. Tell us which you would prefer and we will arrange it.
We meet you in Merzouga village, at your hotel or at the edge of the dunes.
Acordamos la hora contigo según la época del año y la hora de la puesta de sol.
No long driving. Around an hour and a half on camelback each way, which is the part most people underestimate, so wear something comfortable.
We meet in the late afternoon, an hour and a half before sunset, and swap the car for a camel at the edge of the erg.
The caravan crosses the dunes, which reach around a hundred and fifty metres here, and reaches the camp with time to climb a high dune and watch the sun go down over the sand.
Dinner is Berber: soup, tagine and mint tea, eaten together in the main tent. Afterwards there is drumming around the fire, and the sky once the fire dies down is the reason most people come.
You sleep in a traditional tent with blankets and proper bedding.
We wake before dawn to watch the sun come up over the erg. In the first light the sand shifts from grey to orange within minutes, and the night wind has wiped the dunes clean.
After breakfast at the camp we ride back to the village on camelback, arriving in the middle of the morning.
From there you can carry on independently, or we can link the night with the start of a longer route through the south.
