The Ourika is the closest valley to Marrakech: in an hour you go from the heat of the city to mountain air, with the river running between Berber villages and green terraces.
It is the easiest option if you are short on time or travelling with children, and it can be done at a very relaxed pace.
Pick-up at your riad or hotel in Marrakech. We bring you back to the same place in the afternoon or evening.
Between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning, depending on the season.
Only about two hours of driving in total, so most of the day is spent in the valley. The walk to the waterfalls at Setti Fatma is short but rocky in places.
We leave Marrakech in the morning and drive south towards the Atlas. Within half an hour the plain gives way to the first foothills and the road starts following the Ourika river upstream.
We stop in a Berber village, where you can visit a traditional house and see how families live and work the terraces, and at an argan or herb cooperative if you are interested.
We continue to Setti Fatma at the head of the valley, where a path leads up to the first of the seven waterfalls. The walk takes around forty minutes each way over rocks and small bridges.
Lunch at one of the riverside cafes, with tables set out almost in the water, then a slow drive back to Marrakech.
